Hurricane Katrina has been  recorded as one of the most destructive storms in U.S. history. Countless lives were lost- human and animal. Northeast Florida has been fortunate to be spared the devastating effects of hurricanes in the recent past. We encourage all of our clients prepare a disaster plan and urge them to include plans for pets. TAKE YOUR PETS WITH YOU whenever possible.

*Plan Ahead- be prepared for possible disruption of water and electrical services for an extended period of time.

*Develop an evacuation plan for your family and pets. Research pet-friendly hotels or shelters in advance.

*Assemble an Animal Evacuation Kit. Be sure to include items such as bowls, crates, litter and litter box for cats, bedding, food, water, collars with tags, leashes, and veterinary papers. *Keep all vehicles well-maintained and full of gas.

*Keep emergency cash on hand.

*Prepare a list of emergency contact numbers so that they are readily available if you should have to evacuate.
